Truyện Kiều (chữ Nôm: 傳翹), tên gốc là Đoạn trường tân thanh(chữ Hán: 斷腸新聲), là truyện thơ kinh điển trong Nền Văn học Việt Nam, được viết bằng chữ Nôm theo thể lục bát của Nguyễn Du, gồm 3254 câu, dựa theo tiểu thuyết " Kim Vân Kiều truyện" (金雲翹傳) của Thanh Tâm Tài Nhân (青心才人), Trung Quốc (theo Wikipedia)
Cuốn sách ra đời là kết quả của những kinh nghiệm, thể nghiệm của tác giả trong quá trình dạy tiếng Việt cho người nước ngoài gần suốt 30 năm qua đồng thời có chủ ý tiếp thu thành tựu của các tác giả Việt Nam. Sách được mở đầu bằng phần khái quát về phát âm và chữ viết tiếng Việt. Ở phần này tác giả chỉ giới thiệu những nét đặc thù trong ngữ âm tiếng Việt, đường nét, độ cao, độ dài của thanh điệu, cách phát âm của một số nguyên âm, phụ âm khó, kết cấu âm tiết...
